Learning Guide

𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗘

Ellemercito Learning Community is seeking a warm, engaging, emotionally attuned, and student-centered Guide to support our learner-centered microschool community during the 2026–2027 school year.Ellemercito is an intentionally small, innovative, and personalized learning environment rooted in connection, curiosity, creativity, and joy in learning. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young people, brings strong positive energy, and wants to contribute meaningfully to a collaborative and mission-driven community.

At Ellemercito, we intentionally use the term “Guide” rather than “teacher.” We believe Guides walk alongside learners — helping nurture curiosity, confidence, creativity, emotional safety, and a genuine love for learning.

This role primarily supports learners in grades 3rd–12th, though most students currently fall within the upper elementary through high school range (primarily grades 3rd–10th). Applicants should feel comfortable supporting a mixed-age learning environment and building meaningful relationships with both younger learners and adolescents.

𝗪𝗛𝗢 𝗪𝗘’𝗥𝗘 𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗢𝗥

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children or youth in educational settings such as schools, camps, tutoring programs, homeschool environments, microschools, enrichment programs, or youth organizations
  • Feels confident teaching and supporting students in all core academic subjects through at least 9th grade, particularly Math and English Language Arts
  • Is naturally curious, creative, playful, and enthusiastic about learning and life
  • Brings strong positive energy and enjoys actively engaging with students throughout the day
  • Builds authentic, meaningful relationships with students
  • Is warm, emotionally attuned, patient, and emotionally regulated
  • Is self-motivated, dependable, organized, and able to take initiative
  • Is a strong communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Values collaboration, flexibility, humility, and a team-first mindset
  • Feels comfortable working in a personalized, mixed-age, learner-centered environment
  • Believes education should feel meaningful, engaging, human, and alive

  • Support students academically, socially, and emotionally throughout the school day
  • Facilitate and support learning across core academic subjects and grade levels
  • Provide academic support in Math, English Language Arts, Science, and History/Social Studies through at least 9th grade
  • Help facilitate engaging learning experiences, projects, discussions, and activities
  • Maintain active supervision of students at all times
  • Support positive behavior through connection-based and restorative approaches
  • Help cultivate a calm, welcoming, emotionally safe, and inspiring learning environment
  • Encourage curiosity, creativity, learner voice, and exploration
  • Participate in field trips, showcases, fundraisers, special events, and community-centered initiatives such as Kidpreneurs Marketplace
  • Remain actively engaged in school communication platforms and team collaboration

Arts Director

ABOUT THE ROLE

Ellemercito Learning Community is seeking a warm, creative, emotionally attuned, and engaging Performing Arts Director to lead our learner-centered performing arts program during the 2026–2027 school year, primarily supporting learners in grades 3rd–8th.

Ellemercito is an intentionally small, innovative, and personalized learning environment rooted in connection, curiosity, creativity, and joy in learning. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young people, brings strong positive energy, and wants to contribute meaningfully to a collaborative and mission-driven community.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the creative and leadership aspects of performing arts and is excited to help students grow in confidence, creativity, collaboration, and self-expression through music, theater, movement, and performance.

During the 2026–2027 school year, the Performing Arts Director will lead students through rehearsals and preparation toward a larger musical theater or theatrical-style production. Past performances at Ellemercito have included showcases, ensemble performances, and student-led creative pieces, while this upcoming year will focus primarily on developing and producing a larger collaborative production experience for students.

We are looking for someone excited to take meaningful ownership of the program while helping build a joyful, student-centered arts experience that students genuinely look forward to each week.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who is excited to help build and shape a growing performing arts program from the ground up alongside a collaborative and supportive leadership team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and help grow Ellemercito’s performing arts program
    • Facilitate engaging performing arts experiences including singing, theater, movement, performance, and basic music concepts
    • Support students in developing confidence, stage presence, collaboration, and self-expression
    • Help students select, rehearse, and prepare songs, scenes, performances, and creative pieces
    • Lead rehearsals and help coordinate Ellemercito’s larger musical theater or theatrical-style production
    • Help source and coordinate costumes, props, backdrops, set pieces, rehearsal materials, and performance elements
    • Help coordinate rehearsal flow, volunteers, and overall performance logistics
    • Maintain communication with families regarding rehearsals, performances, schedules, and production updates
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director regarding venues, scheduling, and production planning
    • Help cultivate a joyful, welcoming, emotionally safe, and creatively inspiring environment


IDEAL EXPERIENCE

  • Background in theater, music, vocal arts, dance, musical theater, directing, or performing arts education
    • Experience directing performances, showcases, or productions is highly valued
    • Ability to play piano or accompany student performances is a strong plus
    • Experience teaching instruments such as piano, guitar, drums, or ukulele is highly valued
    • Experience supporting students in songwriting, choreography, or creative performance development is a plus
    • Experience sourcing or coordinating simple production elements such as props, costumes, backdrops, or set materials is a plus
    • Experience in learner-centered, arts-based, homeschool, enrichment, camp, or microschool settings is a plus
